More than a flower festival, Temps de Flors is a celebration of place. The beauty of the installations lies not only in the flowers themselves, but in the way they inhabit the medieval spaces of Girona’s old quarter. Romanesque churches, Gothic stairways, shaded patios, and ancient passageways are reimagined through texture, light, and botanical design. Walking through the Barri Vell becomes an experience of discovery. Private gardens and historic buildings, normally closed to visitors, open their doors for a brief moment each year. The route unfolds naturally through narrow streets and hidden corners, inviting a slower pace and a more attentive way of seeing the city. Every installation is site-specific, created in direct conversation with the surrounding architecture. Floral artists combine organic materials, local vegetation, and contemporary design to create temporary works that feel both modern and deeply rooted in Girona’s identity. The result is ephemeral, intimate, and unmistakably Mediterranean. Traditionally held in mid-May, Temps de Flors spans nine days across two weekends. The 2026 edition is expected to continue this tradition, introducing new artistic interventions throughout the historic center. Most installations remain open from morning until late evening, while selected nights extend until midnight, when the city takes on a quieter and more atmospheric character under soft illumination.

Arriving in Girona

Girona is exceptionally well connected, making it an easy destination to reach from across Catalonia and beyond. From Barcelona, the high-speed train offers the most seamless journey, arriving in Girona in under forty minutes. The station itself is within walking distance of the historic center, allowing for a gradual transition from the contemporary city into the medieval streets of the Barri Vell. For those arriving by air, Girona–Costa Brava Airport lies just outside the city, connected by regular shuttle services. While driving is possible, the atmosphere of Temps de Flors is best experienced on foot. During the festival, the historic center becomes almost entirely pedestrian, and parking is limited throughout the city.
